Privacy policy

Screenlark is a desktop screen recorder and editor. It works on your computer. We do not run servers that receive your recordings, and the app has no account, login, analytics or tracking.

The Screenlark app

What stays on your computer

• Screen, webcam, microphone and system-sound recordings.
• Cursor movements, clicks and keyboard shortcuts captured for the editor (shortcut keycaps). Plain typing outside creative apps is not captured, so passwords are not recorded.
• Captions and transcripts (made on your PC with Whisper), markers, chapters, projects and exported videos.
• Settings and logs in the app’s data folder.

Nothing in this list is uploaded by Screenlark.

When the app uses the internet

• Caption models: when you choose a Whisper caption model, Screenlark downloads it from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and the whisper.cpp program from GitHub (github.com). Only the download request is sent; no recording or text leaves your PC.
• Fonts: some app screens load fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), which sees your IP address like any website visit.
• Links you click (for example help pages) open in your web browser.

Sharing and diagnostics

If you upload an exported video to YouTube, WhatsApp, a course platform or anywhere else, that service’s own privacy policy applies. Screenlark does not upload for you. “Save Diagnostics” writes a file to a folder you choose; it is not sent anywhere unless you send it to us yourself.

This website

• No tracking by default. The pages load no analytics, no ads and no third-party fonts or scripts. Fonts are served from this site. If privacy-friendly analytics is ever turned on, this page will say so.
• Beta sign-up. If you join the beta we receive the email address you type, the computer type you pick (Windows, Mac or both), and, if you choose, what you teach. We use it only to send you beta and launch updates and to understand who the app is for. We do not sell or share it. To be removed, write to the contact address below and we will delete it.
• The hero video and the promo video are loaded from this site. The promo video is only fetched when you press play.

Children

Screenlark is a general tool for teachers and creators and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
